Tomintoul ist zwar unbestritten das höchstgelegene Dorf in den Highlands, aber die 1965 erbaute Brennerei gleichen Namens liegt etwas unterhalb des Örtchens, so dass der Preis für die höchstgelegene Brennerei an Dalwhinnie geht.
