Die Geschichte des Drambuie Likörs geht auf das Jahr 1745 zurück, als Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) nach der Schlacht von Culloden auf die Insel Skye flüchtete. Damals wurde ihm vom Clan der MacKinnon of Skye geholfen. Als Dank dafür gab der Prinz sein persönliches Whisky-Likör Rezept an Captain John MacKinnon weiter.
Dieses Rezept ist bis heute ein streng gehütetes Familiengeheimnis.

The history of Drambuie Liqueur starts in the year 1745 when Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) absconded to the isle of Skye after the battle of Culloden. At that time the clan MacKinnon of Skye helped him. In return for this, he gave his personally recipe of a whisky liqueur to Captain John MacKinnon.
This recipe is till this day a skeleton in the cupboard of this family.
