Cragganmore 15 Jahre - 2002 Apple Harvest Cask No. 37.106
We felt transported to an orchard in autumn as we mowed the grass for the last time in the year collecting the remaining apples in a wooden crate as well as racking the leaves and fallen branches together for a garden bonfire. The taste neat felt, at first, like the dry northerly wind signalling a seasonal change followed by a bite of chai spice cinnamon roll which warmed us from inside. With water we had a ploughman’s lunch (bread, cheese and spiced chutney) with a mug of a dry scrumpy cider. After fourteen years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a first-fill charred red wine barrique.
