Nosing: Nosing: Very slight peat smoke on top, sherry intertwined with brown sugar / honey sweetness, and at the some oakiness
Taste: Incredibly soft, round and oily. It's like coating your mouth in silk.
Finish: At first sherry with a slight smoke, then oakiness with honey like sweetness. And at last, oakiness coming up again with sherry notes. Remarkably rich.
Comment: This and incredibly good whisky, it doesn't shine by its complexity whereas its smoothness and balance are really what makes it remarkable. The finish is forever long on sherry notes and leaving an oily sensation in your mouth that couldn't more pleasant. There's absolutely nothing harsh with this dram. And unlike others seem to be saying, in my opinion, it doesn't lack power.
A bit pricy, but definitely a buy if you like the 12 yo and want to take it to a whole other level. It's only flaw if we have to call it that way is that, for my part, it isn't as complex as I would expect an 18 yo whisky to be. But then again, it is wonderfully made and balanced.
