Nosing: Fantastic - Strong sherry, brown sugar, red caramel apples, Christmas cake, vanilla, rich dried fruits, marsala.
Taste: Oak and sherry, pleasant warm spiciness, vanilla, caramelised sugar, marzipan.
Finish: Long lasting - lingering and soft warm spice, fresh tobacco. Leaves slightly numbing sensation similar to a Szechuan peppercorn.
Comment: Fantastic nose on this one, really addictive and luxurious. Great natural dark colour, visually appealing in the glass. The tasting profile is a bit of a let down - pleasant enough but slightly dominated by oak, the brilliant flavours from the nose profile are hiding on the palate. Rewarding long sensation on the finish. If only it tasted as good as it smelled. 84/100 for me.
