Die 11-jährige Lagavulin Offerman Edition entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem bekannten US-Amerikanischen Schauspieler Nick Offerman und der Islay Brennerei. Die Abfüllung reifte in Bierfässern von Guinness nach und wurde zu Ehren von Nick Offermans Vater Ric kreiert.

Die Brennerei: Lagavulin
Die schottische Malt Whisky Brennerei Lagavulin liegt auf der Südseite der Insel Islay, zwischen den Destillerien Laphroaig und Ardbeg. Lagavulin, ausgesprochen Lagga-voulin, kommt aus dem Gälischen und bedeutet in etwa: 'Senke, in der die Mühle steht'. Die 1816 von John Johnston gegründete Lagavulin Destillerie ist im Besitz des Konzerns Diageo und die Whiskys gehören zu dessen Classic Malts Selection.

Nose - Roasted coffee burns, car exhaust, extremely heavy smoke, and smog, burnt meat to cinders.
Taste - Old dusty shelves, hay, baked sausages, dark chocolate, raisins, oven grease.
Finish - Warm and lengthy, dry. Coffee, cigar ash, and burnt cabbage.
First tried with 30 mins of air, then another after 2 hours. Unable to continue further due to the hardcore smoke and disgusting taste. Left it to sit in an air-con room for 30 hours and it was still not cloudy, however, all the smoke has dissipated leaving only a sweet, fruity and bright flavor profile that was quite enjoyable. Just like a basic Lagavulin 16 without the peat.

Kommentar: Interessanter Whisky und ziemlich ungewöhnlich für Lagavulin. Finde ihn für die 11 Jahre ganz ausgewogen und komplex, wenn auch etwas scharf. Guinness Einfluss ist für mich, wenn überhaupt, nur im Nachgeschmack zu spüren, -meine da eine leicht bittere Note bemerkt zu haben, die an Guinness erinnern kann.
