The Balvenie - Craftsmanship without compromise

At The Balvenie, tradition and innovation go carefully hand in hand, resulting in perfect enjoyment. The Balvenie is the only single malt that is still produced directly on site in five craft steps "from barley to bottle".

Gentle and sweet - the distinctive style of The Balvenie Distillery

The Balvenie is a unique range of single malts created by David Stewart MBE. The Balvenie Malt Master was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016 for his services to the Scotch whisky industry. Each expression has a very individual flavour but is rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by The Balvenie's distinctive honeyed character.

The Balvenie is dedicated to the five rare crafts used to create The Balvenie's distinctive taste. It is the only distillery that still grows its own barley, operates traditional floor maltings and employs both coppersmiths and coopers on site - making The Balvenie the most artisanal of all single malts.

The Balvenie DoubleWood - Matured for 12 years

The Balvenie Caribbean Cask - Matured for 14 years

For the production of The Balvenie DoubleWood, Malt Master David Stewart MBE combines a selection of barrels of exceptional quality. Those American oak casks that previously contained bourbon whiskey shape its unique character. This whisky owes its fullness of flavour to its finishing in former oloroso sherry casks made of European oak. The perfect gift, also for the whisky novice. Best enjoyed neat or in combination with jasmine tea.

The Balvenie Caribbean Cask Single Malt Whisky was matured for 14 years in traditional American oak whisky casks and then "finished" in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. The ideal gift. Both for the whisky connoisseur, but also for the beginner. Expertly produced by the legendary Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE. Best enjoyed neat or in combination with Oolong tea.

The Balvenie PortWood - Matured for 21 years

The Balvenie Single Barrel - Matured for 12 Years

After 21 years of base maturation in American oak casks previously used to mature bourbon, its distinctive character is enriched with exceptional flavours in 30-year-old port casks called pipes. Considered by many to be David's finest creation, this whisky is one of his proudest achievements and has won a number of coveted industry awards since its release in 1996.

The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill is a 12-year-old single malt whisky from a single cask. The first fill ex-bourbon casks have always brought all the intensity of the casks freshly imported from America to the whisky. Our Malt Master tastes cask by cask and selects only those casks that stand out for their sweetness and subtle vanilla oak flavours. No more than 300 bottles from a single cask, make each one a limited edition including cask number labelling.

The Balvenie - Matured for 25 Years

In this impeccable marriage, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE combines single casks of traditional American and European oak to create an incredibly complex and balanced whisky that best exemplifies the art and skill of marrying in the so-called Marrying Tun.

The Balvenie Twenty-Five delights with its exceptional character and desirable The Balvenie typicity. Intense vanilla and oak notes are paired here with hints of crystallised ginger and sweet, liquid honey.

The Sweet Toast of American Oak - Matured for 12 years

The Week of Peat - Matured for 14 years

This is the story of the extraordinary things that can happen when traditional, age-old techniques meet fresh ideas. With the intention of creating an even fruitier, sweeter tasting Balvenie, Malt Master Apprentice Kelsey McKechnie experimented with unused, double-flamed American oak casks from the Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky.

The distillery manager at the time, Ian Millar, wanted to experiment with the aroma and flavour profile of The Balvenie, using what he had learned on his recent trip to Islay to order a batch of Speyside peat for the distillery as a result. One week a year since then, The Balvenie has been distilling a batch of intensely peated malt. The result is a whisky rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes, complemented by subtle smoky notes.

The Second Red Rose - Matured for 21 years

Inspired by the exclusive "The Balvenie Rose" bottling from 2008, which is based on the story of Margaret Douglas, the former resident of the old Balvenie Castle, who found a resourceful way to pay an annual rent to King James II, even without financial means. This took the form of a single, red rose - the symbol of true beauty with immeasurable value. After-matured in Australian Shiraz casks, this whisky surprises at the beginning with notes of blackberries and ripe peaches and delights all along the line.
