This Craigellachie whisky has spent 18 years in refill oloroso hogsheads and is part of the Original Collection series from Scotland's oldest independent bottler, Cadenhead. The Original Collection is a selection of outstanding Single Malt Whiskies from various Scottish distilleries that stand out for their diversity of maturation and flavours. The Craigellachie has been matured 100% in refill Oloroso Hogeheads, resulting in a Single Malt with stewed sultanas, dark chocolate and Christmas biscuits after the long maturation period. And how does the Glenlivet get into the name of the bottling? This has a historical background, as Craigellachie used to be allowed to sell under the name Craigellachie-Glenlivet to make it clear that the whisky comes from the Speyside region, where Glenlivet whiskies are also produced. Glenlivet used to be so famous that many distilleries in Speyside used the name on their labels to signal quality and origin. Double names therefore stem from an old regional tradition that is now legally restricted, but still appears on old bottles or very special bottlings.

In the heart of the Speyside near the little town of Craigellachie/Banffshire lies a distillery that was founded in 1891 at the peak of the Whisky boom and survived until today. Craigellachie Distillery is situated on a hill and overlooks the town.The difficult Gaelic name means “Rocky Hill” and is pronounced Krai-GELLacky.

Geschmack: Angenehm, ölig-cremig mit Anklängen von Leder, dunkler Schokolade, Matcha und Pistazie.
Abgang: Facetten von Weihnachtskuchen, Zitronensaft und Erdnussbutter verschmelzen, ehe Rosinen- und Milchschokoladenoten übernehmen.
