Glen Scotia Campbeltown Saga - Release No. 1: Whiskyopolis 2011/2025

The Campbeltown Saga is an exclusive whisky series that reinterprets the important heritage of the traditional harbour town of Campbeltown - the place that gained worldwide fame in the 19th century as the "Whiskyopolis". Created in collaboration with Glen Scotia and Master Distiller Iain McAlister, the series puts the distillery's rarest and most characterful stocks centre stage and takes whisky lovers back to the heyday of the whisky empire. The first release, Whiskyopolis Vintage 2011 Medium Peated, deliberately draws on the historic style of Campbeltown whiskies. Inspired by early bottlings with peat smoke, such as the highly acclaimed Glen Scotia 10 Year Peated, this vintage whisky was created to revive precisely that original character. McAlister only used rare, medium peated first fill Bourbon casks from the few annual production weeks of peaty Glen Scotia spirit. Since 2011, the maturation has given the whisky a dense, smoky structure, characterised by maritime notes and an oily texture that is typical of Campbeltown. With its balanced interplay of smoke, coastal breeze and restrained sweetness, Whiskyopolis embodies the authentic signature of the region. As a limited edition, it preserves the legacy of the Victorian whisky capital while presenting the unmistakable, rare peat smoke character of Glen Scotia in a modern form.
