Product description
The Glenfarclas distillery is releasing its Easter Edition Vintage 2014 just in time for Easter. The Single Malt for Easter was matured in selected Oloroso sherry casks and bottled exclusively for the German market. The whisky was distilled in 2014 in traditional stills that are directly fired. The casks come from the José y Miguel Martín bodega, which air-dries its casks for up to 18 months. Storage in the classic Dunnage warehouses of the Highland distillery has given the limited Easter Edition an unrivalled variety of flavours consisting of sherry notes, fruit and chocolate.

The Glenfarclas distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and is one of the best-known and most successful family-run distilleries in Scotland. The owner family Grant is proud of its private status, which is reflected in the distillery's slogan ‘The Spirit of Independence’. Since 1865, the fifth generation of the Grant family has been shaping the history of the Glenfarclas distillery. This long family tradition guarantees consistent quality and the necessary foresight for a long-lasting product such as Whisky. Aroma: Angenehm, aber dezent, nichts tritt vordergründig heraus. Etwas dunkle Schokolade sowie dunkle Früchte.

Geschmack: Im Vergleich zur Nase fast eine Geschmacksexplosion. Recht komplex, vor allem aber ölig-cremig, was die Aromen schön zusammenhält. Die für Glenfarclas charakteristischen Zitrusnoten beschränken sich hier auf (Blut)Orange im Hintergrund. Zur Frucht kommt zunehmend dunkle Schokolade.

Abgang: Mittellang bis lang. Ganz am Schluss gesellt sich zu Frucht, Schokolade, dezentem Kaffee und der Eiche sogar etwas Pfeffer.

Kommentar: Ein recht komplexer, süßer Malt, der für mich besonders wegen der feinen öligen Konsistenz und dem vielfältigen Abgang heraussticht.

Aroma: Dunkler als gedacht für das Alter. Wundervoll komplex, dunkle Früchte, ein wenig Eiche. Fruit Oak Sherry

Geschmack: Ähnlich dem Aroma, für das Alter erstaunlich komplex. Anklänge von Schokolade/ Fass. Unheimlich süffig/mild, keinerlei Schärfe. Sherry Chocolate

Abgang: Der Abgang könnte noch ein wenig länger sein - aber auch nur weil er so gut ist. Oak Sherry

Kommentar: Hervorragender Whisky, der vor allem wenn man den Preis mit einbezieht ein super P/L aufweist. Well done Glenfarclas, weiter so!
