Product description
Balblair is located in the small town of Edderton in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery takes its time producing the Single Malts, which are matured in traditional 'dunnage' warehouses with clay soils.
In 2019, the distillery introduced a new Core Range, which will replace the Core Range that previously consisted of vintage bottlings.
This 18-year-old Single Malt was matured in ex-bourbon casks and then in first-fill Spanish oak casks, which give the malt additional depth.

Balblair is one of the most northern distilleries of Scottland. It lies right next to the Dornoch Firth and was established in 1790. The distillery character is best described as 'very fruity and sweet Speyside Malt'. Balblair means fertile valley, but also battlefield. This is traceable to a battle between the Picts and the Vikings many centuries ago. read more

    Aroma: Aroma: Intensiv würzig und fruchtig; herbsüß. Birnenkompott mit Rosinen, Datteln und getrocknete Aprikosen; Gewürzkombo mit Muskatnuss und Zimt.

    Geschmack: Würzig-fruchtig, herbsüß. Markante Eichentannine, nur ganz leicht bitter. Trockenfrüchte: Datteln und Aprikosen; ein wenig englische Orangenmarmelade; dunkle Schokolade. Eine edle Gewürzmischung: Muskatnuss, Zimt, ein Hauch Pfeffer.

    Abgang: Lang, mit sehr harmonischem Ausklang der Gewürz- und Fruchtnoten; markante Eiche.

    Kommentar: Ein sehr feiner Balblair, komplex und ausdrucksstark. Die Klagelieder wegen des Wechsels von den Vintage-Abfüllungen zu Altersangaben waren wohl doch etwas verfrüht! Fünf Sterne (von 5).
