The Texan Balcones Distillery was founded in Waco in 2008. Balcones distils Corn, Texas Straight Rye, Bourbon and also Single Malt Whisky. The distillery uses copper pot stills from the well-known Scottish manufacturer Forsyths - one of the few in the USA. Geschmack: Würzig weihnachtlich. Muss verdünnt werden, so bei ca. 55% trifft er meinen Geschmack am ehesten. Er ist nie verschlossen, aber mit Wasser macht er auf

Abgang: Pfeifentabak, Vanille, Würzig - je nach Verdünnung unterschiedlich

Kommentar: Ich bin eindeutig KEIN Rye-Fan. Aber dieser hier ist anders. Würzige dunkle Schokolade, Eiche, Tabak. Zum Glück nicht der typische Rye-Geschmack. Somit, was Rye betrifft, für mich: the one and only

Der Dunkle Rye mit einzigartigem Geschmack. Ich liebe ihn, denn er ist ein dunkler, malziger Rye, der einiges an Geschmack zu bieten hat. Ganz klar sticht der malzige Geschmack heraus, der sich mit Roggen paart. Dabei umrundet merkt man eine dunkle Schokolade bzw. etwas Leder oder Tabak. Dunkle Eiche als Holznote. Es ist ein Rye, der ganz offen seine dunklen Geschmäcker freigibt und einen auf eine besondere Geschmacksreise schickt. Diese dunklen Geschmacksnoten habe ich sonst selten bei einem Rye und der Eclipse bringt sie hervor wie kein anderer. Ich möchte ihn nicht mehr missen. The Dark Side of Rye - Wäre mein Titel für diesen Whisky.
