Taste Initially sweet with notes of black pepper, oranges and raspberries. Baked apple and a slight spiciness follow.
Finish Medium length of toasted oak and a hint of peat smoke.

The 21-year-old Benromach complements the distillery's Classic line. Like its younger siblings, it matures exclusively in first-fill Bourbon and sherry casks. The first batch was distilled in the year Benromach reopened. The Benromach distillery was acquired by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail and reopened in 1998.

Kommentar: Ein klein wenig enttäuschend um ehrlich zu sein aber keinesfalls schlecht. Das Aroma ist fruchtig mit etwas Datteln / Sherry und etwas rauch. Im Geschmack dann generell getrocknete Früchte und Orange, rauch nun stärker wahrnehmbar, genauso wie eichig würzige Noten. Abgang lang mit Eiche, Rauch und Würze. Eher ein günstiger 21J aber auch einer der schwächeren.

Aroma: Sehr schönes, ausgewogenes Aroma, Rauch wahrnehmbar, aber dezent im Hintergrund

Geschmack: Rauch wird stärker, Orange und Toffee kommen mit durch. Ganz leichte Bitternoten im Hintergrund.

Abgang: Deutlich und kräftig. Langer Nachhall und ein schönes Gesamtaroma

Kommentar: Ich werde ihn, trotz des Preises, nachkaufen. Preis ist immer relatib, aber 21 Jahre sind halt auch eine Zeit.Peat Smoke Caramel Orange

Aroma: Eine WAHNSINNS Nase. Wahrscheinlich das beste Aroma, welches ich je an einem Whisky "verriechen" durfte. Unglaublich komplex mit einem ständigem Wechsel aus aromatischem, leichten Rauch (Kaminrauch) und saftiger Orange, verfeinert mit Zartbitterschokolade. Für das Aroma sind die 43% Vol. ideal gewählt.

Geschmack: Nach dem vorangehenden Aroma leider etwas enttäuschend. Lascher Antritt (hier fehlen einige Volumenprozente), aromatischer Rauch und die bereits wahrgenommene Orange mit einem Touch Vanille.

Nachklang: Ewig lang, angenehme Zartbitterschokolade und leichte Asche.

Kommentar: Was er im Aroma verspricht, kann er leider im Geschmack nicht halten. Wenn dieser Whisky genauso schmecken würde wie er riecht, wäre das der mit Abstand beste Whisky den ich je hatte und ich habe schon einige hinter mir. So bleibt man doch etwas enttäuscht zurück obwohl es sich hier immer noch um einen tollen Whisky handelt. Zudem kriegt man eine tolle Verpackung. Ist er 170€ wert? Jein
