The Big Peat Red Wine Edition was bottled exclusively for the German market by the independent bottler Douglas Laing. The Blended Malt was matured in hand-picked French red wine casks, which give the heavy and smoky Islay whisky a very subtle, slightly fruity note with a fine spiciness.

Kommentar: Stark rauchig, geht in Richtung Octomore. Leider überwiegt im Geschmack der Rauch, erdige, ledrige oder andere Noten kommen kaum zur Geltung, wirkt etwas unausgewogen.
Ein halber Stern Abzug wegen der fehlenden Umverpackung, die bei günstigeren Big Peat Abfüllungen vorhanden ist, immerhin eine hübsche, schwarze Flasche die vor Licht schützt.
