Variety Single Malt Whisky
Aroma Hints of cold open fire and wood smoke, which combine with red wine and a good pinch of spice. Burnt heather follows with forest honey and milk chocolate. Accents of cherry lollipop with grilled manderine towards the end.
Taste Wine flavours swirl around, ashes from the campfire waft dryly over the palate, wood smoke adds spice. Wild berries and grape seeds with a little peat follow with herbs and oak as well as fresh apricots, lime zest, sultanas and salt.
Finish Medium length and dry, spicy ash and oak notes linger, some coal dust gives way to facets of cocoa powder, wine flavours and dried berries.

Product description

Product description
This Lowlands Single Malt comes from the Bonnington Distillery. The modern single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland, is the first of its kind in the region for almost a century. Production was commissioned in 2019 and began in March 2020 after delays due to archaeological discoveries on the site. These included the remains of 17th century Bonnington House, an 18th century distillery, a bronze foundry and evidence from the 16th century Siege of Leith. The distillery is owned by Halewood Artisanal Spirits and was built on the ruins of Bonnington House, which once served as a military outpost. The whisky was matured for 5 years in a first fill red wine cask and selected by independent bottler The Cask Hound. The smoky Bonnington whisky was bottled at 58.8% vol. at cask strength without chill-filtering and without the addition of colouring. It is one of the distillery's very first bottlings and is available in a limited number of bottles. Maturation in a single cask gave the peated Lowlands malt fine fruity red wine facets and spicy-sweet accents of sultanas.

  • Herstellerbeschreibung
    on 09.01.2026
