The Craigellachie distillery still distils its whisky in traditional copper worm tubs. Great importance is also attached to the quality of the barley. This original bottling was stored in oak casks for over 17 years.

Kommentar: schöne altmodische Abfüllung mit Ecken und Kanten. Preislich inzwischen aber leider grenzwertig.

In der Nase eine sehr schöne Oak- Note und eine Süße, die in Richtung Honey oder Caramel geht. Dahinter eine leichte Säure, die ich mit einer Schwarzen Johannisbeere beschreiben würde. Dazu Orange Berries Pineapple und ein reifer Apple. Die 46% sind präsent und haben power, sind aber perfekt gewählt.

Im Geschmack passend zur Nase die Oak. Craigellachietypisch schwer, ölig, komplex, dunkelfruchtig, Maschinell und dazu leicht angekokeltes Fass. Der reife Apple aus der Nase kommt auch im Geschmack durch. Dazu Malt Pineapple Orange Cherry Berries Honey und ein wenig Cake.

Der Abgang ist Komplex, lang und cremig. Dazu Caramel Oak Berries. Gefühlt älter als 17 Jahre.

Kommentar: 2023er Abfüllung, mit etwas Wasser auf 40% reduziert noch besser

Aroma: Orangenschale, frische Trauben, geschnittenes Holz, Honig, minimal kalte Asche

Geschmack: wirkt wie frisches Quellwasser auf der Zunge, Traubentrester, kaltes Lagerfeuer, Honig

Abgang: sehr kurz, süß

Kommentar: Solider Whisky, bei 17 Jahren sind die Erwartungen allerdings höher. Angenehm zu trinken, für den Preis würde ich ihn aber nicht nochmal kaufen.

Aroma: Zunächst orangenfruchtig & malzig, entwickelt sich dann in Richtung Trauben und Rosinen, sowie Würzigkeit ...
Geschmack: Erst leicht süßlich - zitrusfruchtig, dann würziger werdend.
Abgang: Anhaltend; leicht ölig-zitrusfruchtig, in milde Eichennoten ausklingend.
Kommentar:
Schöne Komplexität und Intensität.
Besonders für das Aroma sollte man sich Zeit nehmen!
Insgesamt ein gelungenes Erlebnis, mit Schwerpunkt im Aroma.
