Product description
For Crown Royal XO, Crown Royal's master blender selected 50 different whiskies and blended them together. The blend was then matured in cognac barrels made from Limousin oak. These give the Crown Royal XO fruity and spicy accents to the vanilla and caramel flavours.

When Icelandic immigrants settled at Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba in the 19th century, they were glad to have escaped from the volcanoes of their homeland. They called their settlement 'Gimli', which means 'safe haven from hellfire' in Icelandic. They surely would have never dreamt that a giant Whisky distillery would someday bear this name. read more

Aroma: Intensiv Zucker-Melasse & Vanille, sowie etwas Gewürze und Eiche
Geschmack: Samtig mild und weich; süß und leicht fruchtig bis würzig
Abgang: Anhaltend; etwas Eiche, nussig / trocken-bitter, zum Ende trockener werdend.
Kommentar:
Für mich eher ein Rum als ein Whisky.
Auffällig ist dabei, dass sowohl Aroma, wie Geschmack völlig identisch sind zum Crown Royal XR; - nur dass man für jenen das doppelte bezahlen muss!
- Wer als wissen will wie ein Crown Royal XR schmeckt, der sollte es bei diesem XO belassen, und kann so eine Menge Geld sparen. (Beide sind es nach meiner Meinung nicht wert)

Aroma: sehr ungewöhnlich - ein kurzer Anflug von Fruchtgummi, dann trocken-holzig, samtig, fast staubig, ein Hauch Würze (Zimt, Muskat, Kardamom), dann cremiger, Karamell... auf länger dann gezuckerte Orange mit Zimt, etwas Holz und Pfeffer

Geschmack: sehr weich und samtig, süß, Toffee, Karamell, bei längerer Zeit auf der Zunge deutliche Weinbrand-Noten, Pekannuss, Ahornsirup, etwas Lakritze

Abgang: lang, weich, angenehm bittersüß, Nuss, etwas Lakritz

Kommentar: Lecker, sehr süffig, geschmacklich was Besonderes, mit 50€ gerade noch fair bepreist.
