The El Dorado 12 years comes from the Wooden and Metal Coffey Stills of Demerara Distillers. The EHP Wooden Still is the last fully functioning example of its kind in the world today. It is similar, though not identical, to the very first continuous still, designed and patented in 1832 by Irish revenue officer Aeneas Coffey.

The Distillery:
Die Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts gegründete Destillerie am Ostufer des Demerara Flusses schaut auf eine lange und bewegte Geschichte zurück. Heute ist sie ein führendes Produktionsunternehmen in Guyana. Es werden außer Rum lokale und internationale Spirituosen und Getränke hergestellt und abgefüllt. Noch heute wird der Rum auf originalen Brennblasen produziert, darunter eine Port Mourant Still, die größtenteils aus Holz besteht.
