Elsburn Cosy Winter V (formerly Glen Els) is one of the exclusive winter editions from the German Hammerschmiede distillery, which are bottled every year for German distribution. For the 2019 edition, slightly smoky malt whisky was used again, this time matured in various first-fill Malaga, sherry and ruby port casks.

    Aroma: Das erste was aus dem Glas strömt ist schöner Räucher Schinken. Nach einer weile im Glas kommt eine schöne süße zum Vorschein, die sich mit Malzigen und Fruchtigen Aromen vermischt. Er hat aber auch eine angenehme Würze und Röstaromen zu bieten.

    Geschmack: Kräftiger und süß würziger Antritt, gefolgt von dunklen Früchten wie Rosinen und überreifen Pflaumen. Auch Schokolade ist zu schmecken, aber ich würde sagen das geht in Richtung Zartbitter. Leichter rauch legt sich über das ganze, sehr angenehm passt alles sehr schön zusammen.

    Abgang: Lang und würzig im Wechsel mit Frucht, Schokolade und Eiche.

    Kommentar: Bin eigentlich kein großer Fan von Glen Els bzw. Elsburn, aber der Cosy Winter V hat mir sehr gut gefallen und mich angenehm überrascht.
