F.E.W Spirits comes from the city of Evanston, Illinois, which has had to endure Prohibition for hundreds of years. This Bourbon whiskey is made from a mash of 70% corn, 20% barley and 10% rye. It was distilled in a 1,500 litre Kothe copper still from Germany. After distillation, the whiskey matured in heavily burnt oak barrels from Minnesota.

Ein toller Bourbon von einer doch eher unbekannten, kleineren Destillerie! Die Nase ist für meine Begriffe sehr typisch für Amerikaner, der Geschmack hingegen zeichnet sich deutlich vom Standard-Bourbon ab. Es entwickelt sich neben den süßen, leicht weihnachtlichen Nuancen nach Zimt und Rosinen vor allem ein intensives Lagerfeuer-Aroma, das bis in den Abgang anhält. Gepaart ist dies mit einer hohen Viskosität, die ein tolles, öliges Mundgefühl hinterlässt. Zudem eine sehr schicke Flasche
Für mich eine tolle Entdeckung!

Laut Beschreibung wird er auf Brennblasen destilliert und nicht auf Column Stills, macht das eventuell den Unterschied? Er erinnert mich ein wenig an Koval und Woodford Reserve. Er macht sich gut im Glas. Kaum Ecken und Kanten, und mit Wasser kommt sogar ein wenig mehr Frucht durch. Glatte 3 Punkte. Solider Bourbon.

80/100 Keine Superklasse, aber ein Whiskey, der sich von andern Bourbons mit einer individuellen und interessanten Note abhebt.
Aroma: Mais, Karamell, Pinie, kräuterig (Brennnessel, Klee, Minze)
Geschmack: malzig-würzig-pfeffrig-kräuterig (bleibt so wie zuvor)
Geruch: der "Mix" bleibt auch im Finish erhalten, ein paar Tropfen Wasser lassen ihn von der Nase bis zum Finish etwas süßer wirken
