The Distillery: Glen Moray

The building in which Glen Moray is housed started out as the West Brewery, founded in 1828. In 1897, its owners, Robert Thorne & Sons, converted the site into a two-still Whisky distillery. read more

Kommentar: Beim Öffnen der Flasche musste ich gleich an eine guten Obstbrand denken. Die Fruchtaromen sind toll. Ein Whisky, den ich mir sehr gut an warmen Sommerabenden auf der Terasse vorstellen kann, da er mit seiner Frische und Frucht überzeugt. Die dezent bleibende Eichenbitterkeit rundet den leichten Whisky gut ab. Ein toller Whisky, der in größerer Runde getrunken werden kann und das Portemonnaie bedankt sich auch.

Kommentar: Hier muss man den Preis bei der Bewertung berücksichtigen. Natürlich kommt dieser Whisky etwas kraftlos und wässrig daher. In der Nase und im Abgang kann er nicht überzeugen. Dennoch ein netter Einstieg in das Chardonnay Finish, der Lust auf wertigere Abfüllungen macht. Kleines Plus, der Whisky baut ein richtig schones Nussaroma im vorderen Mundbereich auf.
