Product description
This bottling of Irish whiskey was matured in American oak and bourbon casks and then in Japanese oak Mizunara casks. The history of Glendalough dates back to the year 518, when Saint Kevin retreated into the Irish wilderness, where he lived for seven long years. Legend has it that he stood in the water for 13 days and 13 nights with blackbird eggs in his hands until the chicks hatched. He stayed there for another 13 days until they fledged.

Glendalough
Glendalough means 'Valley of the Two Lakes' in Gaelic. The valley is also called the Garden of Ireland and is located in the Wicklow Mountains south of Dublin. It was here that five friends founded Ireland's first craft distillery. Glendalough is also known for its 6th century monastic settlement. This was founded by the legendary monk and hermit St Kevin, whose story also inspired the distillery founders and whose figure adorns the Glendalough bottles. read more

    Kommentar: Eine sehr positive Überraschung! Das Finish in Mizunara-Eiche verleiht eine unvergleichbare Kräuternote. Schwer zu definieren, etwas komplexer. Aber dadurch auch etwas besonderes. Nicht für jeden Tag, aber echt gelungen!
