The 13-year-old Glenrothes is part of the Barrel Selection Private Cask series from the independent bottler Wilson & Morgan. Initially, the whisky matured in a refill hogshead. The Single Malt was then finished for 30 months in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask. Wilson & Morgan keeps such high-quality casks for between eight and 50 years for its excellent cask maturations and refines high-quality distillates in them, in this case a Glenrothes. Bottled in natural colour, without chill-filtering and exclusively for a German importer.

The Distillery: Glenrothes
The Glenrothes Distillery is located in Rothes in the heart of the Speyside. It looks back on a very turbulent history. The day the first spirit was distilled at Glenrothes was 28 December 1879 and this might have been seen a bit as a bad omen: It was the day the Tay Bridge at Dundee collapsed. Several times The Glenrothes was hit by fire and it burnt down at last, but as a phoenix it rose again and today it’s back on the stage and playing a big role in the Whisky game.

Aroma: Intensiv nach mandeln, marzipan und gewürze mit heftigem karamellisieren zucker, der einem förmlich das Wasser im Mund laufen lässt
Geschmack: Eine absolute Granate…
Würzig mit zartbitter Schokolade und karamel, Datteln, Feigen, volle sherry wucht und alles mit der typischen Glenrothes erdigkeit die alles vereint, unglaublich lecker
Abgang: cremig und ölig, langer abgang, caramel, sahne, herrlich…
Kommentar: Jeden cent wert, eine absolute Empfehlung, leider wird es ihn nicht lange geben, kaufe gleich eine zweite Flasche
