This 18-year-old Kilchoman matured in a former first-fill bourbon cask and was bottled exclusively for Whisky.de. The Islay whisky with 51.3% vol. was created by distillery founder Anthony Willis and his team and impressively reflects the field-to-bottle approach. Barley cultivation, malting and distillation, maturation through to bottling: every step of the production process has taken place on site at Kilchoman since it was founded in 2005. This Single Malt was distilled from barley with a phenol content of 50 PPM in peat smoke and matured in a cask for a total of 18 years. The bourbon cask gave the smoky Kilchoman whisky vanilla tones, which combine with sweet citrus accents and mild notes of oak.

The Distillery: Kilchoman
After more than 125 years, the Kilchoman farm distillery is the first new distillery to be built on the island of Islay. At the distillery, which was founded in 2005 and produces a 100 per cent Islay Single Malt, all production steps are carried out on site, from the cultivation of the barley to the filling of the bottles.
