Product description
This Kilkerran Single Malt matured for 8 years in port casks before being bottled at cask strength and comes from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. The Mitchell's Glengyle distillery was closed for over 80 long years, but was reorganised and reopened by Springbank. The first distillate flowed on 25 March 2004 and the name Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cilli Chiarain'. This was the name of the first settlement on the site where the town of Campbeltown now stands.

Eine schöne, leicht rötliche Farbe.

Das Aroma ist zunächst geprägt von einer dezenten Rauchnote,
nicht der typische Islay Aschenbecher Rauch,
eher ein ins Würzige, Speckige gehender Rauch.
Dazwischen immer auch Spitzen einer Süße,
die da ganz verschämt durchblitzen.
Ist das der Port?
Ich vermute mal…

Extrem stark!
Aber er bleibt sehr aromatisch.
Ja, der wirkt jung und ungestüm,
aber doch sehr ausdrucksstark.
Ich spüre etwas von Gras und Wiese,
herb, würzig, holzig.
Ich assoziiere wilde Beeren,
altes, rauchiges Holz.
