Taste profile
Peat Smoke Peat Smoke Sweet Sweet Sherry Sherry
Variety Single Malt Whisky
Aroma Strong and direct with a slight tingle. Phenolic, with smouldering peat smoke and wood ash. Subtle hints of jasmine and musk with methylphenol, accompanied by maritime notes reminiscent of rock pools, lobster pots and fresh scallops.
Taste Soft, slightly oily texture, then strong and sweet with dried fruit character and savoury, spicy, smoky-salty peat smoke notes. Water softens and sweetens the profile, but still remains full of energy.
Finish Very long, pleasantly dry and slightly smoky, with lingering salt and more peat smoke in the aftertaste. A little water lends a fine and piquant chilli pepper spiciness.

Product description

Product description
This Lagavulin gem was bottled for the 2025 Special Releases. Under the motto Horizons Unbound, this year's bottlings from Diageo's Special Release collection, which is popular with collectors and connoisseurs alike, are presented with whiskies that have undergone long maturation phases or are considered rare bottlings. Rich flavour profiles and meticulously designed packaging with elegant labels make the 2025 Edition sought-after collectables. The 12-year-old Lagavulin matured in refill casks and butts made from European oak, which were previously saturated with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry. The smoky, fruity Islay whisky was bottled at natural cask strength. The elaborately designed outer packaging makes the limited special bottlings ideal as a collector's item or gift. Since 2001, the spirits group has bottled an annual collection of limited edition Single Malt Whiskies from its extensive distillery portfolio. For some years now, each edition has had an overarching theme, which is reflected in the artistically designed labels and packaging. Previous themes have included "Legends Untold", "Elusive Expressions", "Spirited Xchange" and "The Enigma of the Casks". The special releases offer connoisseurs the opportunity to discover unique flavour profiles and one-off cask ageings.

The Distillery: Lagavulin

The Scottish Malt Whisky distillery Lagavulin is located on the south side of the island of Islay, between the Laphroaig and Ardbeg distilleries. Lagavulin, pronounced Lagga-voulin, comes from Gaelic and roughly means “hollow by the mill”. Founded in 1816 by John Johnston, the Lagavulin distillery is owned by the Diageo group and its whiskies are part of its Classic Malts Selection. read more

  • Herstellerbeschreibung
    on 30.09.2025
