Product description
This Linkwood belongs to the distillery labels of Gordon & MacPhail. The independent bottler is probably the one with the largest cask stock. Decades ago, the Urquhart family cultivated the important contacts to the distilleries, and now the range is correspondingly wide. In the meantime, their malts from the 'Distillery Labels' series are often considered original bottlings, as many of the distilleries included do not bottle themselves.
This bottling is with a strong 46%.

Peter Brown founded the distillery in 1821. At its inception, the site had only two stills, and Whisky operation wasn't entirely legal yet. The distillery formally began operations in 1825, after Whisky distillation was legalized. Brown's original distillery operated with only one wash still and one spirit still. read more

    Enorm lang und feinwürzig

    Ein enorm komplexer und vielschichtiger Malt. Filigran und eher subtil, nicht wuchtig - es kommt kein spontaner Wow-Effekt daher, dafür gibt es unglaublich viele Nuancen zu erschmecken. Dazu braucht man Zeit, obwohl er nicht verschlossen ist, ganz im Gegenteil. Er offeriert freigiebig, man muss sich nur darauf einlassen. Man kann mehr Geld ausgeben, dafür bekommt man wenn es gut läuft (alte Springbanks) stärker die speziellen Aromen sehr langer Reifung von Holz, Leder, Tabak, etc., die hier subtil im Hintergrund da sind. Ob das besser ist, das ist schlicht Geschmacksfrage. Komplexer geht es kaum.
    Zur Jahrtausendwende hatte ich den 1968er Linkwood 30 yo G&M, dieser ist nah dran.
