Aroma Hints of dried fruit, ginger and toffee meet subtle facets of orange with a little clove and nutmeg.
Taste Rich sultana notes, sultanas and dried apricot, toffee syrup, vanilla and ginger with toasted wood spice, a hint of baked apples towards the end.
Finish Persistent and warming with oak notes and some citrus.

This Macallan Single Malt Whisky epitomises the typical combination of oak and spirit for which the distillery has been known since its foundation in 1824. The 2023 edition of the 18-year-old Macallan Double Cask matured in hand-selected American and European oak casks that were previously filled with sherry.

Kommentar: Mir sind die klassischen Macallan Sherry Cask tendenziell eine Spur zu herb, was auf die europäische Eiche zurückzuführen ist. Die Triple Cask (ehemals Fine Wood) hingegen sind auch nicht ganz mein Fall sondern für mich weder Fisch noch Fleisch. Die Double Cask Serie trifft genau meinen Geschmack, tolle Sherry-Aromen, alles schön eingebunden, aber nicht überladen mit herber Eiche. Ist wie immer alles subjektiv, aber ich hoffe, die Double Cask-Serie wird von Macallan so beibehalten! Die haben alle ihre Qualität und ich habe sie bei einem Tasting kennen gelernt, jetzt hab ich mir erstmals jeweils eine Flasche vom 12er, 15er und 18er gegönnt! Wirklich tolle Produkte!

Aroma: Anklänge von getrockneten Früchten, Ingwer und Toffee treffen auf subtile Facetten von Orange mit etwas Nelke und Muskatnuss.

Geschmack: Reichhaltige Rosinennoten, Sultanine und getrocknete Aprikose, dazu Toffeesirup, Vanille und Ingwer mit getoasteter Holzwürze, gegen Ende ein Hauch gebackener Äpfel.

Abgang: Anhaltend und wärmend mit Eichennoten und etwas Zitrus.
