Michter's Bomberger's Declaration was bottled in honour of the Bomberger's distillery, which became known as Michter's in the 20th century. The Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is matured partly in Chinquapin oak barrels and partly in American white oak barrels. The chinquapin oak barrels are naturally air-dried and left to rest for three years before being flamed and charred inside according to precise specifications. Both types of barrel are then matured in warehouses for 5 to 6 years in specific heat cycles before they are ready to be stacked. The small batch is then bottled at 108 proof, i.e. 54% vol.

The Distillery: Michter's
Michter's is one of the most traditional American Whiskey distilleries, with a history dating back to 1753. Founded by John Shenk in Pennsylvania, continued by Abraham S. Bomberger, marked by Prohibition and changes in ownership, it was given the name Michter's in the 1950s. In the 1990s, production was moved to Kentucky and modernised. It takes place at three locations: the Shively Distillery, the Fort Nelson Building and the farm near Springfield.

Kommentar: Was soll ich über diese Flasche sagen? Das Teil ist echt schwierig. Zum einen merkt man einen "seltsamen", für mich neuartigen Geschmack / auch im Aroma tw. bemerkbar, muss wohl dieses Chinquapin - Holz sein. Zum anderen ein wohlschmeckender Bourbon, mit gut eingebundenem Alkohol und einem langen Abgang. Ein typischer und doch wiederum untypischer Bourbon. Als Alleinstellungsmerkmal also "Chinquapin". Kann man machen, und ist auch nett, aber rechtfertigt das 159 Euro? Meines Erachtens: Nein! 3,5 Sterne für einen guten, feinen Bourbon, 0 Sterne für den Preis. -
