Michter's Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye stands for high-quality rye whiskey tradition from Louisville, Kentucky. The brand's roots go back to 1753, when John Shenk founded one of the oldest American distilleries. The legacy that Michter's continues today in the form of meticulous craftsmanship and uncompromising quality standards make the whiskeys special representatives of their guild. The Single Barrel Rye is made from a rye-accentuated mashbill, which gives the whiskey its characteristic, spicy and intense style. Each batch comes from a single barrel, which preserves the individual character of each bottling. Michter's uses carefully selected barrels made from new, charred American white oak. These are air-dried for a particularly long time before they are used. The maturation process in Kentucky's climate ensures a balanced combination of rye flavour, subtle sweetness and warm wood notes. At 46.4 % vol. (92.8 proof), Michter's Single Barrel Rye is strong, structured and at the same time pleasantly accessible. Typical flavours include spicy notes, vanilla, light caramel, citrus accents and soft oak. The Distillery: Michter's
Michter's is one of the most traditional American Whiskey distilleries, with a history dating back to 1753. Founded by John Shenk in Pennsylvania, continued by Abraham S. Bomberger, marked by Prohibition and changes in ownership, it was given the name Michter's in the 1950s. In the 1990s, production was moved to Kentucky and modernised. It takes place at three locations: the Shively Distillery, the Fort Nelson Building and the farm near Springfield.
