The Milam & Greene Rye Port Wine Cask Finish comes from Indiana and is transferred to Texas for maturation, where it is refined in old port wine casks in a warm climate. Before the straight rye whiskey is bottled, the distillery team tastes it several times until the desired flavour profile is achieved.

The Milam & Greene distillery team around Master Distiller Marlene Holmes is based in Blanco, Texas. In contrast to Kentucky, where Whiskey has been produced since 1700, Texas has only been active in the Whiskey business for a short time.     Aroma: Weich und roggenwürzig: Honig, Schokolade, Minzsirup, Eukalyptus, Pfannkuchen mit Ahornsirup, Vanille/Karamell, etc.

    Geschmack: Würzig, voll und fruchtig: Typische Roggennoten mit Pekannuss, Schokolade, Nougat, Zimt, Cornflakes und Pudding.

    Abgang: Mittel. Eine Schokotarte mit Kirschen/Mandelsplittern, Kakao und wieder Minze/Eukalyptus.

    Kommentar: Tolles Produkt! Einer der besten Ryes die ich bislang trinken durfte! Preis/Leistung überragend!

    Kommentar: Ein traumhafter Rye, der genau richtig in seiner Stärke ist. Viele im Portweinfass nachgelagerte haben eine zu herbe Note, dieser nicht. Voll und ganz ausgeglichen und ausgewogen. Ich kann es nur jedem empfehlen, der Rye mag und sich bei den nachgelagerten etwas ausprobieren möchten. Ein Hidden Gem für mich.
