The Yoichi Distillery on Hokkaido is considered the centrepiece of the Japanese whisky tradition - founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the "father of Japanese whisky". Inspired by Scottish craftsmanship, the maritime climate, peaty soils and centuries-old methods meet Japanese distilling skills here. The Nikka Yoichi Sherry Wood Finish matures in selected Spanish sherry casks and develops a fascinating interplay of flavours between dark fruits, gentle smoky notes and fine spice. This limited bottling is a real highlight for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

    Die Farbe schon mal herrlich. Ein schönes Mahagoni.
    Yoichi verbindet man ja grundsätzlich mit rauchigem Whisky,
    doch die können auch anders. Bei meinem Besuch vor Ort hatte ich hervorragende Abfüllungen probiert, alle ohne Rauch bzw. Torf.

    So auch dieser hier!
    Edel und fein wirkt er.
    Fruchtig, leicht holzig, kräftig.
    Rote Früchte, Trauben, und ganz im Hintergrund - aber vielleicht bilde ich mir das nur ein - ein Hauch von Rauch.

    Oh, doch!
    Im Mund kommt eine feine, zarte Torfnote zum Vorschein.
    Nein, kein Rauch, Torf eben.
    Zart und schön.
    Macht ihn für mich äußerst spannend,
    erinnert an alte Flaschen von Benriach,
    Sherry und Torf.

    Aroma: Frisch mit Zitrus, Honig und floralen Noten, mild und ohne schwere, torfige Noten. Ein leichter Schwefelton ist dezent spürbar.

    Geschmack: Süß und unkompliziert, wenig komplex, mit einem dünnen Mundgefühl.

    Abgang: Mäßig lang, leicht metallisch, süß und sanft.
