The 10-year-old Scarabus matures in a combination of refilled bourbon casks and fresh American oak casks. Scarabus is the name of a mystical place on the Scottish island of Islay and means 'a rocky place'. The Single Malt of the independent bottler Hunter Laing from Glasgow is named after this place.

    Kommentar: Einfach, aber keineswegs langweilig weiß dieser Whisky in der Nase mit dominantem Rauch, der über einer klassischen "Whiskysüße" schwebt und dazu mit maritimen Anklänge aufwartet, zu überzeugen. Dieser Eindruck setzt sich Auf der Zunge genau so fort: vollmundiger Rauch, medizinisch-maritime Eindrücke von Jod und Kräutern und eine ganz, ganz hintergründige, kaum nennenswerte Frucht. Im Abgang dann - Überraschung - bleibt der Rauch intensiv, während sich Bitternoten langsam abbauen und ein angenehm aschiges Gefühl im Mund zurücklassen. Gefällt mir richtig gut.
