Secret Islay Sherry Hogshead - The Alba Trail 20 Years 1990/2011

Secret Islay is a well-known distillery from the island of the same name. The Single Malt belongs to The Alba Trail of a German importer, which acts as an independent bottler with the popular maturity. At the end of 2022 and 2023, two special Single Malts were bottled in the Alba Trail series with the addition "Old Bottle Flavoured". After being bottled in Scotland, these bottles remained untouched for several years under unusual circumstances before finally finding their way to Germany. A real highlight from these remaining bottles is this 20-year-old Secret Islay from 1990, which has been resting in the bottle since 2011 and is the result of an exciting combination: an unpeated Islay Single Malt that has matured for 20 years in a sherry cask and then spent 13 years in the bottle. This long journey gives the Islay whisky a unique flavour profile that reflects its history in terms of taste.
