Aroma Intensive after caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, ripe pear, dried fruits and honey. In the background some smoke, oak, tarragon and nutmeg.
Taste Soft, round and silky. Complex with notes of oranges, salty caramel, light smoke as well as herbs.
Finish Long and complex with oak notes.

Product description
For the 12-year-old Single Malt, Slyrs uses a special malting barley from the north of Bavaria, as well as spring water from the nearby Bannwaldquelle. Matured in American white oak barrels in which Slyrs whisky was previously stored, the 12-year-old Bavarian Single Malt is a Bavarian dram through and through.

The Slyrs Whisky Distillery on Lake Schliersee, named after the historical name of the region, is located in the middle of the picturesque Alpine landscape. The finest Bavarian Single Malt Whisky has been produced here since 1999, initially in the traditional Lantenhammer distillery and since 2007 in the modern Slyrs distillery in Neuhaus.     Aroma: Viel Vanille, helle Früchte, Würze, getreidige blumige Noten, Honig und Minze.

    Geschmack: Voll, weich und rund: Eine Eichenfracht die an holzige weiße Schokolade mit Vanillesahne, Peakannüße, Zimt und junge essbare Butterblumen.

    Abgang: Mittel. Weiche Komplexität: Schokolade (hell und Vollmilch), wieder Vanille (diesmal schon fast Pudding/ähnlich wie bei klassischem Bourbon) und herbe fruchtige Noten (die an frische Orange erinnern).

    Kommentar: Der älteste deutsche Whisky den ich bis dahin genossen dürfte! Zwar deutlich teurer als ein vergleichbarer Schotte mit dem Alter, aber dennoch lohnenswert! Er beweisst das auch deutsche Whiskies mit dem Alter tolle, würzige, komplexe Geschmacksprofile erreichen können! Preis/Leistung ganz erträglich!

    Kommentar: Ordentlicher Whisky, recht bissig, aber das PLV ist echt nicht gut. Für das Geld gibt es zwei bessere Flaschen. (eigentlich machen das die Schlierseer recht gut...?)
