Product description
Slyrs Bavarian Rye is the first rye whisky from the distillery at Schliersee. In addition to rye, the mash also consists of wheat, barley and spring water from the mountains around Schliersee. American Rye Whiskey is stored in freshly burnt out barrels made of American white oak as standard and so the Slyrs Bavarian Rye also matured in heavily burnt out ones.

The Slyrs Whisky Distillery on Lake Schliersee, named after the historical name of the region, is located in the middle of the picturesque Alpine landscape. The finest Bavarian Single Malt Whisky has been produced here since 1999, initially in the traditional Lantenhammer distillery and since 2007 in the modern Slyrs distillery in Neuhaus.     Aroma: Malt Sweet Fruit Spices Sehr malzig und süß. Leicht fruchtig und deutliche Gewürznoten. Insgesamt durchaus angenehm, wenn auch nicht allzu komplex.

    Geschmack: Sweet Spices Angenehme Süße mit prickelnd-würziger Untermalung. Macht einen eher leichten Eindruck.

    Abgang: Sweet Spices Herb Oak Wieder schöne Honigsüße und scharfe Gewürze. Wird trocken im Rachen, leichte Bitterkeit macht sich breit. Im Abgang deutlich mehr Power als im Geschmack.

    Kommentar: ist zwar vielleicht nicht der ganz große Überflieger, aber für den aufgerufenen Preis bekommt man hier auf jeden Fall was Leckeres.

    Kommentar: Der ist anders als Rye aus den USA oder Kanada. Erst störte mich das, aber mit öfterem Hineinschmecken fand ich ihn immer besser. Er ist eben ein "bavarian Rye". Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, dann aber richtig gut!!

    Kommentar: Viele der Slyrs Whiskys sind wirklich gut. Dieser Rye ist definitiv nicht schlecht, allerdings evtl. zu stark verdünnt. Ich empfinde den Geschmack zu sofft und langweilig. Wer Amerikanische Rye Whisky gewöhnt ist, wird hier vermutlich enttäuscht. Sollte es diesen Whisky irgendwann einmal in Fassstärke geben, würde ich ihn gerne probieren.
