The Sherry Collection from Tomatin is a series of three bottlings that have been matured exclusively in sherry casks. For the Manzanilla Sherry Butts bottling distilled in 2014, the single malt was refined for 2 years in Manzanilla sherry butts. The series is the result of the current resurgence in tapas culture, which is closely associated with sherry and pays homage to the dessert wine. Almost no tapas meal ends without a glass of good sherry.
Manzanilla is a dry, white wine made from Palomino grapes. At the mouth of the river Guadalquivir, where the wine is exclusively produced, special climatic conditions prevail which favour the development of the flor and give the wine its unique character.

The Distillery: Tomatin
Tomatin has been a rising star among the Scottish distilleries since the beginning of the millennium. The Highland distillery was the biggest Scottish distillery in the 1970, but the quality of the Whisky wasn’t high regarded. Ups and downs followed and after been new positioned from 2000 onwards Tomatin grew to be one of the most reputable Scottish Whisky brands worldwide.

Aroma: Tiefgründig mit köstlichen Aromen von Sauerteigbrot, dazu Nuancen von salzigem Popcorn.
Geschmack: Ausbalanciert mit Anklängen von Trockenfrüchten, Kamillentee, Grapefruit, Ahornsirup und gesalzenen Walnüssen.
Abgang: Vollmundig und leicht salzig, mit warmer brauner Butter.

Kommentar: Wow! Der erste Teil der Sherry-Kollektion von Tomatin! Der 10er beeindruckt mich jetzt schon! Wahrscheinlich bisher das Beste was ich von Tomatin geniessen dürfte! Wenn das der erste Teil der Trilogie ist, dann freu ich mich jetzt schon auf die nachfolgenden, älteren Teile!
