The Wolfburn Christmas bottling And a Partridge in a Pear Tree was created in honour of the traditional Christmas carol "Twelve Days of Christmas". For this, they delved deep into the traditional warehouses and selected ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks from 2013, which also form the basis of the popular Wolfburn Aurora (50% Bourbon casks and 50% sherry casks), but were matured for 12 years throughout. This makes this year's Wolfburn Christmas bottling one of the oldest Wolfburn creations currently on the market. The Twelve Days of Christmas is a wonderfully smooth holiday whisky with a balanced variety of flavours dominated by floral notes, subtle peat smoke aromas and sweet accents in the aroma. The taste combines honey, sherry sweetness and caramel with gentle spices. 46% vol. and as usual without chill-filtering and without the addition of colourings, this Wolfburn Single Malt is the ideal whisky for Christmas.

The Distillery: Wolfburn
Wolfburn is one of the northernmost distilleries on the Scottish mainland. It was originally built in 1821 but had to close again in the course of the 19th century and today only ruins of the old complex remain. In 2011, a new distillery was built not far from the ruins and in the meantime the production volume has returned to the same level as in the 19th century. The logo features a wolf, whose related mythical creature, the so-called 'sea wolf', is said to bring good luck to all those who set eyes on it. In the 16th century, when the drawing for the Wolfburn logo was made, there were plenty of wolves in the area.

Malteon 06.12.2025Kommentar: In der Nase fruchtig-würzig mit gebackenen Äpfeln, Honig und einem Hauch Nussigkeit. Am Gaumen süß-malzig mit sanfter Eiche, bevor ein warmer, angenehm langer Abgang mit Weihnachtsgewürzen und zarter Trockenheit ausklingt.

Leichter Torfrauch, Heidekraut und Heidehonig. Floral, Kräutrig
Geschmack:
Die malzigen Heidenoten sind sehr präsent. Honig / Zucker, Kräuter und ein minimaler Anflug an gelben tropischen Noten. Der Sherry Einfluss ist sehr subtil.
Abgang:
Mittellang und Süß. Der Rauch kommt nochmal leicht durch.

Braucht ein wenig Zeit. Die anfängliche Nase gefällt mir gar nicht so gut. Später dann aber schon. -
