Arôme Initially pleasantly sweet with notes of fruit and accents of fresh sea air. In the background there is citrus freshness and a hint of cereal as well as fine peat smoke.
Bouche Sweet and nutty with a hint of grapes and honey. Floral flavours envelop the palate and are enhanced by a hint of dried fruit and spices.
Finale Gentle, sweet facets ebb away and are overlaid by a trace of gentle peat smoke at the end.

Wolfburn Northland is an exceptional single malt that epitomises the original character of Wolfburn, one of the most northerly distilleries on the Scottish mainland. This whisky is produced in the traditional way near Thurso, on the windswept north coast of Scotland. Distillation takes place in small copper stills, resulting in a particularly smooth and pure raw spirit. The Northland bottling is matured in quarter casks made from American oak, i.e. smaller casks that give the whisky a more intense flavour development due to the larger contact surface with the wood. The whisky is matured in these casks for at least eight years, where it develops its smooth, warm and balanced flavours. The end result is a harmonious Single Malt with a round, slightly sweet and maritime flavour profile. Fine vanilla and honey notes combine with delicate hints of spice and oak, while a hint of smoke and salt is reminiscent of the rugged coastline of the Scottish Highlands. Northland represents the first chapter of Wolfburn's distillery history with its authenticity and craftsmanship.

Wolfburn is the northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland. It was originally built in 1821 but had to close again in the course of the 19th century and today only ruins of the old complex remain. In 2011, a new distillery was built not far from the ruins and in the meantime the production volume has returned to the same level as in the 19th century. The logo features a wolf, whose related mythical creature, the so-called 'sea wolf', is said to bring good luck to all those who set eyes on it. In the 16th century, when the drawing for the Wolfburn logo was made, there were plenty of wolves in the area. en savoir plus

    Abgang: Sanfte, süße Facetten ebben ab und werden am Ende von einer Spur sanften Torfrauchs überlagert.
