A lot has happened at the Loch Lomond distillery since the change of ownership in 2014. Straight neck pot stills and swan neck pot stills are used for distillation. The 18-year-old Single Malt is now bottled with a higher alcohol content and is not chill-filtered. This allows the natural sweet oak character to be fully preserved. Three types of American oak casks were used for the maturation. These include Bourbon, refill and recharred casks from Loch Lomond's own cooperage.

Loch Lomond liegt in der schottischen Stadt Alexandria, direkt am gleichnamigen See. Wohl kaum eine andere Brennerei in Schottland hat das Prädikat 'einzigartig' so verdient wie Loch Lomond. Die Brennerei hat nicht nur Pot Stills, sondern auch Column bzw. Coffey Stills. Dies erlaubt die Produktion von vielen verschiedenen Whisky-Arten.

Kommentar: Ein echter Geheimtipp für Genießer, die sich langsam an etwas Rauch neben den Eichennoten gewöhnen wollen. Sehr spannender Malt! -

Kommentar: Kommt relativ unauffällig daher, überzeugt aber mit jedem zusätzlichen Schluck. Kam auch bei "nicht-Whisky Trinkern", die sich mal an einen 18er herangetraut haben, sehr gut an. Mittlerweile zwar im Preis angestiegen, aber immer noch eine interessante Alternative! -

Kommentar: Guter 18 jähriger ohne Sherry. Und das ist gut so. Er ist eigenständig mit toller Eiche. Leicht ölig mit Apfel und Karamell. Dazu eine gute Würze mit Old Bottle Flavour. Rauch erkenne ich nicht. Doch Islay hat mich da wohl abgestumpft.
