The Ridgemont Reserve 1792 Bottled in Bond was created in honour of the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act, which revolutionised the quality of American whiskey. To be labelled Bottled-in-Bond, the distillate from a season (January-June or July-December) must have been produced by a Master Distiller in a distillery. Furthermore, the cask must be stored for 4 years in an American state and the bonded warehouse must be under the supervision of the US government. In addition, a bottled-in-bond whiskey must be 100 proof (i.e. 50% vol.) and the label of the bottled product must state the distillery where it was distilled and, if different, where it was bottled. If a whiskey fulfils all of these requirements, it can call itself bottled-in-bond. This Ridgemont 1792 Bourbon was aged in oak barrels and bottled at 50% alcohol by volume (100 proof). It impresses with a balanced structure of vanilla, caramel and cooling mint flavours.
