The Irishman Legacy

The Irishman Legacy was created by Walsh Whiskey to mark the 700th anniversary of the "Red Book of Ossory" - a medieval manuscript written by Bishop Ledred near the current headquarters of The Irishman in Kilkenny. On three and a half pages in Latin, it contains the earliest known written reference to the distillation of Aqua Vitae - the forerunner of whiskey. This special bottling was triple distilled, matured in Bourbon and sherry casks and given a 15-month finish in Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine casks, which were selected in collaboration with the Kilkenny Whiskey Guild and by Bernard Walsh himself. The Irishman Legacy combines historic depth with the independent signature of Walsh Whiskey - an Irish bottler dedicated to revitalising classic whiskey traditions. This unique bottling was created as a tribute to this historic event.
