Bivrost Alfheim Single Malt Whisky

Bivrost Alfheim single malt comes from Norway and is produced in the northernmost distillery in the world. The whisky is called Alfheim, which means "home of the elves" in Norse mythology and is one of the nine worlds and home of the light alves. The Light Elves are brighter than the sun, whereas the Black Elves, who dwell in the earth, are blacker than pitch. The name itself means something like 'protected area in the heart of creation'. The water for the Alfheim whisky comes from the Elvejordvannet river, which receives melted glacier water from the Lyngen mountain range. The single malt was matured in various oak casks from different provinces. In addition to the classic whisky casks made from French (Q. robur) and American (Q. alba) oak, Alfheim also uses casks made from Chinquapin oak (Q. muehlenbergii) and Colombian oak (Q. humboldtii). The barrels consist mainly of European and American oak for complexity and Spanish oak also makes up a proportion of the barrels.
