This The Singleton of Glen Ord from Diageo's Special Releases was combined from two distillates. One of them matured in refill casks and was refined for 5 years in second fill sherry butts, the other was stored for a longer period in refill casks and was matured for a further three years in former mezcal casks. The careful blending made this exceptional Single Malt aromatic, fruity and complex. The 17-year maturation period in the innovatively selected casks made the whisky a very special collector's item. Since 2001, the spirits group has bottled an annual collection of limited edition Single Malt Whiskies from its extensive distillery portfolio. The series includes Scotch whiskies that are rarely available on the market and have been matured experimentally or are considered to be of particularly high quality overall. Whisky fans and collectors are therefore equally addressed. The whiskies are released once a year at cask strength and are characterised by exceptional maturation and in some cases old vintages, although bottlings without an age statement are also available. For some years now, each edition has had an overarching theme, which is reflected in the artistically designed labels and packaging. Previous themes have included "Legends Untold", "Elusive Expressions", "Spirited Xchange" and "The Enigma of the Casks". The special releases offer connoisseurs the opportunity to discover unique flavour profiles and one-off cask ageings. The motto of the 2025 collection is Horizons Unbound.

Herstellerbeschreibungop 08.10.2025Aroma: Mild, trocken und aromatisch, mit leichten orientalischen Gewürzen wie Muskatnuss und Zimt. Zarte, fruchtige Kopfnoten werden von alkoholischen und leicht pflanzlichen Noten überlagert, die an Mezcal erinnern. Leichte Gewürz- und Rosinennoten folgen.
Geschmack: Sanfte Textur. Süß und leicht salzig im Geschmack, mit würzigen Ingwernoten. Aufregend und frisch mit einer Kombination aus Mezcalnoten, Kräutern und zarter Honigsüße. Mit ein paar Tropfen Wasser cremiger.
Abgang: Herzhaft, lang und durch Akezente von weißem Pfeffer würzig-wärmend. Durch Zugabe von etwas Wasser ausbalanciert und weiterhin frisch und komplex.
