Aroma Sweet smoke, rich caramel and vanilla. Accompanied by dark fruits, black pepper and subtle notes of flambéed orange.
Taste Tobacco leaves, dark caramel and cocoa. In the background sweet-smoky and earthy notes as well as herbs.
Finish Long and soft with salted caramel, liquorice and lingering spiciness.

Product description
1770 Glasgow comes from the Scottish city of the same name. The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2014 and is the first single malt distillery in Glasgow since 1902. Following an old tradition, single malt is now once again produced there from Scottish barley and water from Loch Katrine. The smoky bottling from the distillery matures in fresh white oak casks and then receives its finish in first-fill sherry casks.

Kommentar: Trotz der vor Hersteller angegebenen 50 ppm Rauchgehalt wirkt der Rauch nie aufdringlich, sondern ist schön eingebunden mit süßen Karamell- und Zitrusnoten, Gewürzen und Kräutern. Zum Ende hin trockener werdend mit langem, würzigem aber trotzdem weichem Abgang. Fazit: Ein rundum gelungener Malt, der die Erwartungen an zukünftige Abfüllungen der Brennerei weckt.

Abgang: Lang. Natürlich mit Rauch Peat Smoke und Sherrynoten Sherry und überraschend vielen Kräuteraromen Herbs sowie Anis und Menthol. Gewürze Spices und Eiche Oak halten sich mit Anklängen von Zitrusfrüchten im Hintergrund.

Kommentar:
Dieser Whisky kann locker mit seiner Konkurrenz von Islay mithalten (Kilchoman Sanaig, Ardbeg An Oa, Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak, ...).
Die Aromen und Geschmacksnoten aus der Beschreibung treffen es für mich ziemlich auf den Punkt.
