Tomatin has been a rising star among the Scottish distilleries since the beginning of the millennium. The Highland distillery was the biggest Scottish distillery in the 1970, but the quality of the Whisky wasn’t high regarded. Ups and downs followed and after been new positioned from 2000 onwards Tomatin grew to be one of the most reputable Scottish Whisky brands worldwide.

Aroma: Er unterscheidet sich extrem von den 14- und 18-Jährigen von Tomatin, die so ungemein schwer daherkommen; der 21-Jährige ist im Vergleich dazu richtig leicht; die Früchte bilden ein regelrechtes Potpourri; von Apfel über Himbeere bis zu Pflaume kann man alles entdecken; die Süsse hingegen hält sich eher zurück; dunkle Noten fehlen völlig, aber etwas Malzigkeit ist da.
Geschmack: Auf der Zunge süsser beginnend als erwartet und dann aber kommt Hand in Hand mit einem schönen Prickeln die Fruchtigkeit daher; auch wenn es amerikanische Bourbon Barrels waren, war die Lagerung halt doch 21 Jahre, und somit gibt auch die Weisseiche doch etwas Würze an den Whisky ab.
Abgang: Der Abgang ist dann etwas würzig, pfeffrig, aber nicht allzu lang.
Kommentar: Schöner, leichter, komplexer Whisky; wegen seiner Leichtigkeit kein typischer Tomatin.

Aroma: Viel Vanille, Kokosnuss und Karamell mit angenehmer Eichenwürze. Es folgen Noten von gebackenen Äpfeln und Zitrusfrüchten sowie florale Noten.
Geschmack: Apfel-Streuselkuchen, frisch gebackene Croissants und Honig, gefolgt von süßen wärmenden Noten von Ingwer, Nelken und Sternanis.
Abgang: Lang, fruchtig und buttrig.
Fasstyp: First Fill Bourbonfässer
