Product description
This Macallan Classic Cut is the seventh bottling in Macallan's limited annual series. As is usual with Macallan, the single malt whisky matured partly in first-fill sherry casks made from European oak and ex-Bourbon casks made from American oak. This gave it its dominant sweetness and balanced flavours, which are shown to their best advantage when bottled at full strength.

    Kommentar: Ein feiner Macallan, der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden und die 50,3% lassen Raum zum Experimentieren. Ich halte die Diskussion über das PLV von Macallan für obsolet und oft etwas zu polemisch.Es bleibt immer noch eine Frage des persönlichen Geschmackes und das sollte toleriert werden.

    Aroma: Typische Macallannote (Orange, leider wenig ausgeprägt), Himbeermarmelade, Vanille, Zitrone, Mandeln.

    Geschmack: Fruchtig, süßlich und weich: Cremige Vanille mit Orangestücken, leichter Schokolade und Sirup.

    Abgang: Maximal mittel (auch mit Wasser verdünnt!): Leichte Mandelnoten mit (leicht bitteren) Saftorangen und Vanillecreme.

    Kommentar: Ein Macallan wie kein Anderer! Leider im negativem Sinne! Sehr hoher Bourbon-Anteil, gegenüber den markanten Sherryfässern (schätze so ca. 60 % Bourbon/40 % Sherry). Tut ihm leider nicht so gut! Die ikonische Macallannote ist schwer bis gar nicht zu finden! Ich weiss bei der Reihe geht es um den Stellwert von Ex-Bourbonfässern bei der Reifung von Macallan. Da helfen auch First-Fill-Sherryfässer leider nicht! Schlechtester Macallan bisher! Die Preis/Leistung ist murks! Dennoch ein Macallan, "deswegen" nur 3 Sterne!
