Taste Very fruity after apricots and raspberries. Lemon cake with creamy almond notes follow in the background.

Situated at Knockando in the center of the Speyside the Tamdhu Distillery managed to survive difficult years of economical ups and downs. This is due to the status of Tamdhu Whisky as a reliable component in the Blends of the Highland Distillers for years. It always was “The Can-Dhu-Spirit”. Since 2011 the distillery belongs to Ian Macleod Distillers who meanwhile started a revival of the brand and relaunched the Single Malt Tamdhu successfully. read more

    Geschmack: Kräftig, wieder Sherry aber auch Kakao und dunkle Schokolade und dunkle Weihnachtsgewürze

    Abgang: recht lang, Eiche und dunkler Kakao dominieren

    Kommentar: Interessanter Whisky, aber im Vergleich zum 12 Jährigen deutlich zu teuer

    Comment:
    Definitely one of the best and most complex whiskies I have ever tried. The aroma is spicy like the 12-year-old expression, but much more lively and intense, with far more depth. I detected notes of vanilla, plenty of fruit, a hint of banana, chocolate, and coffee.

    The palate is very complex, again with lots of fruit, apricot, banana, and strawberries. lemon, alongside coffee, biscuit, caramel, leather and ginger. The finish is massive, leaving a long-lasting maltiness which is the highlight of this whisky, accompanied by lingering notes of biscuit, coffee, and vanilla.

    Overall, it is incredibly complex yet perfectly balanced. Not too sweet, not too spicy—just exceptionally well-made all around.
