Kommentar: Ein toller Whisky. Allerdings kostet er Stand Juni 2021 57,-. Das ist ein deutlicher Mehrpreis gegenüber dem 12-jährigen (Sept 2021: 32,-) und so viel besser schmeckt er mir dann nicht. Ich würde beim 12-jährigen bleiben.
Geschmack: Wie 40% schmeckt er nicht, recht intensiv und komplex, eher trocken. Weich, fruchtig und gleichzeitig trocken. Früchte wie in der Nase: Trockenfrüchte, Orange, Gewürze. Gut ausbalanziert, nicht wässrig mit einer leichten Holznote.
Abgang: Lang und gleichbleibend mild.
Kommentar: Bei 40% erwartet man einen eher milden, oft wässrigen Whisky. Ersteres ist hier der Fall, zweites definitiv nicht. Er ist nicht überfrachtet, sondern sanft und filigran, dabei ziemlich komplex. Aufsetzend auf den ausgezeichneten 12-jährigen ist der ältere Bruder deutlich komplexer und gesetzter. Im Gegensatz zu vielen älteren Sherrygereiften ist er nicht mit Sherry überfrachtet oder zugekleistert, sondern behält eine schöne Komplexität. All das bei einem unter oder um die 60 EUR tollen PLV. Das ergibt für mich 4,5 Sterne mit Tendenz nach oben.
