Product description
Balvenie Double Wood 12 Year Old celebrated its 25th birthday in 2018. This milestone began in 1993 and is proof of the craftsmanship of Malt Master David Stewart, who developed a process in 1982 that is now known as 'wood finishing'.
Ex-bourbon casks made from American oak and hogsheads are used for the 12-year-old Balvenie Double Wood. This Single Malt is then matured in ex-Oloroso sherry casks made from Spanish oak.

    Aroma: angenehm, leicht floral.

    Geschmack: so muss ein Whisky schmecken. Intensiv und vielfältig. Ohne Rauch. Leicht süßlich. Nicht holzig

    Abgang: lang anhaltend und wärmend.

    Kommentar: ein sehr guter Whisky, den ich leider schon lange nicht mehr hatte, aber jetzt mal wieder bestelle. Sehr guter Tropfen.

    The aroma is lively and incredibly sweet, with distinct notes of caramel, honey, and fruit that are very prominent on the nose. However, the taste is disappointing. The whisky starts smooth but then bites back with a bit of a burn. The mouthfeel is quite average, and the flavors you get on the nose don't translate to the palate. The taste is simple, mostly giving an oak and wood sensation. It lacks fruitiness and complexity.
    It feels dry and misses the depth required to be considered a high quality whisky.
    At this range of money, you can buy 100 times better whiskies.

    daß der doubble wood nichts mehr hat von dem was Balvenie einst war.

    Kommentar: Zu Beginn fand ich den Double Wood echt gut. War mein erster Scotch. Jetzt wo ich andere probiert habe, muss ich sagen ist der Double Wood, gerade zu dem Preis (Balvenie...), eher meh. Es gibt günstigere Scotches, ohne Färbung und ohne Kühlfiltrierung, die einem die Welt des Scotch besser zeigen als Anfänger.
